Isle of Arran Accommodation

About the Isle of Arran

The Isle of Arran is often overlooked by visitors, but it is a place that we recommend highly. It is a great destination if you are short on time and want to experience a bit of everything that Scotland is famous for.

The Island straddles the Highland Boundary Fault line so its scenery ranges from rugged mountains in the north to rolling farmland in the south. If you are seeking a Scottish castle, Arran has both a grand stately home with ornamental gardens, and the ruins of a stronghold that dates back to Robert the Bruce. The island also has an abundance of Neolithic sites including the magnificently atmospheric standing stones at Machrie Moor. But if history isn’t your thing you might prefer to sample the island’s produce which includes whisky, beer, cheese and a whole range of nice smelling things from the Arran Aromatics perfumery.

For the golf enthusiast, the Isle of Arran has a wide choice of courses that provide great views and interesting challenges. We haven’t done the sums, but we reckon Arran has more golf courses per head of population than any other Scottish island.
