Glamis Castle

Overview

Glamis Castle has been the home of the Earls of Strathmore and a royal residence since 1372. It is where her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was born and spent her childhood.

Glamis Castle is considered to be Scotland’s most haunted castle and it certainly has some good stories to tell. There are legends of a hidden chamber where a dark family secret remains locked away, a ghostly bearded figure that terrifies guests in the upper rooms, and the sad figure of a little black servant boy who waits at the door of the Queen Mother’s sitting room. Even the statues seem to be watching you!

Glamis Castle has plenty to offer, with its fairytale towers, ornamental gardens, and many rooms to visit. Visitors are led by guides through the luxurious décor of the pink drawing room, a fabulous dining room, numerous bedrooms & haunted chambers. It’s well worth a visit.

Photography is not permitted inside the castle.
