Scotch Whisky Experience

Overview

This is a good introduction for the novice to Scottish Whisky. The cheapest "Silver Tour" option lasts for about an hour and includes:

  1. A glass of whisky and a guide on how to appreciate it. You also get to keep the glass as a souvenir.
  2. Audio/Visual presentation on how whisky is made.
  3. A fantastically detailed model of Tormore distillery and a video explaining the different characteristics of the whisky regions.
  4. A guide to the art of whisky blending by the resident ghost.
  5. A chance to sample a huge range of whiskies in the Bar. Sadly, you have to pay for these!!!

Tickets can be booked via their website.

This is a recommended attraction for a rainy day in Edinburgh and the restaurant is reasonably priced. After the tour, you can linger in the bar and sample more whiskies, or you can indulge yourself with a purchase in the well-stocked whisky shop, but we would warn you that the whisky here is usually more expensive than you'll pay if buying the same bottle in the supermarkets.

If you want to visit an actual distillery within the Edinburgh area, you should look at our information Glenkinchie Distillery
