Glengoyne is built on the site of what was originally an illicit still which used the waterfall behind the distillery as its source. To save rolling barrels across the road outside the distillery there is an underground whisky pipeline!
There is a recently refurbished “Sampling Room” whose walls are lined with an array of bottles that contain Glengoyne whiskies at different stages of maturation.
Specialised "Gold Medal Parade" Tasting Tours (1.5 hrs long with 4 samples of Glengoyne Malts & costs £28) and Master Blending Sessions (1hr 45 mins long during which you get to blend and bottle your own 200 ml bottle of whisky for £70) are also available with advanced booking. See www.glengoyne.com or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more details. During these tours, you get to visit the bonded warehouses and then enjoy the hospitality of the “Club Room” where you can sample different "expressions" of Glengoyne malt whisky.
A new type of tasting tour (£28) has been introduced which combines the delights of whisky with chocolate... a great combination that's surely got to appeal to most people!
Tours are on the hour.
