About Loch Fyne area
Loch Fyne is the longest sea loch in Scotland and an area that we would happily move to if the opportunity arose. At the northern end of the loch you find the neat and very photogenic village of Inveraray beside an ornate castle that is still the home of the Duke of Argyll. Most of our recommended accommodation is in and around this village, but we also feature properties in the active fishing village of Tarbert towards the southern end of the loch. Tarbert is also very close to the port where you can catch the ferry to Islay.
Whilst Inveraray is a popular destination for tourists, the rest of the Loch Fyne area tends to be overlooked and this is good for you as it means you can enjoy an easily accessible part of the Highlands that offers beautiful coastal scenery and tranquillity. The tourist attractions in this area include castles, botanic gardens, unusual museums, lots of good “foodie” experiences and a cluster of Neolithic monuments and standing stones.
