TESTIMONIALS

"Over 100 pages with hundreds of links. It's an entire guide book! I truly am without words. I was expecting maybe 5-6 pages for each week. I have to say that I feel very, very guilty at the small amount we paid for the wealth of information you provided."

"I am delighted with my purchase of your Scenic Scotland 7 days tour, wish that I had found your website sooner. I would have saved many hours of uneducated web surfing and comparisons."

Scotland Tours >> Browse Scotland Tours >> Scenic Tours >> 6 Day Scenic Tour from Glasgow

Starting in Glasgow and ending in Edinburgh, this Scenic tour travels through the Loch Lomond National Park and Argyll to the lively seaside town of Oban before heading North to Skye and Wester Ross. A choice of routes lets you explore Loch Ness or the wilderness of Torridon before arriving in Inverness. The route then heads south to Edinburgh, passing through Speyside and Perthshire with visits to famous castles, whisky distilleries and historic sites.

PLEASE NOTE: After payment, you will instantly receive an email that enables you to download your Scotland Tour Itinerary.

Arrive in Glasgow – The guide starts with an introduction to Glasgow attractions. It also features directions for a short drive from Glasgow to the villages around the southern shores of Loch Lomond.

Day 1 – Your Tour of the Scottish Highlands begins with a choice of routes. You can select between:
• A journey along the banks of Loch Lomond before heading westwards to join the Atlantic coast at Loch Etive.
• A quieter route via a small car ferry to the Cowal Peninsula where you can also fit in a visit to Botanic gardens and the pretty village of Inveraray.

Both routes end in the lively harbour town of Oban where we can recommend several tourist attractions and some excellent seafood restaurants.

Stopover in Oban Area

Day 2 – We suggest 3 options for the journey to Skye:
1) - The classic route along the "Road to the Isles" from Fort William to the Skye ferry. This route passes Glenfinnan and some Harry Potter film set locations ,
2) -  A longer route through the wilderness landscape of Sunart to join the "Road to the Isles" to the Skye ferry.
3) -  An inland route through sections of the Great Glen, Glen Garry and Glen Shiel to join the west coast near the iconic Eilean Donan Castle.

You may also manage to include some sightseeing on Skye and we have included directions for a tour of the island. However, we recommend that you allow at least 1 full day for visiting Skye.

Stopover in Lochalsh area or Skye

Day 3 – The guide provides direction for both a direct route and a longer route from Skye to Inverness. The direct route allows you to spend a morning on Skye before heading east through the Great Glen to Loch Ness and Inverness. The longer route is a very scenic passage through the wilderness and dramatic landscape of Glen Torridon.

Stopover in Inverness / Black Isle area

Day 4 – The itinerary takes you to Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns (an ancient burial chamber) and Cawdor Castle before heading south to the Spey Valley with its famous whisky names. Continuing south, you drive past the Cairngorm mountains and through the Rothiemurchus Forest, where we guide you to woodland walks. Your journey ends in a pretty Victorian town with a good choice of tourist attractions nearby.

Stopover in Pitlochry Area

Day 5 – From Pitlochry to Edinburgh, the itinerary allows time for gentle woodland walks to waterfalls and a short detour to visit an 18th century conservation village with a picturesque cathedral. Heading south, you pass Perth and Gleneagles before arriving at Stirling. If you are in a hurry you can bypass Stirling, but we have provided directions for a visit to Stirling castle and the Wallace Monument before guiding you on to Edinburgh.

Stopover in Edinburgh

Day 6 – Arrive in Edinburgh and take in some of the city’s magical atmosphere by following our guide to the city’s many historical, cultural, supernatural, culinary and convivial charms. We provide a choice of 3 walking routes around the city. There are enough attractions in Edinburgh to keep you busy for several days, however, we also provide you with directions for day trips out of Edinburgh that cover:
• the nearby castles of West & East Lothian,
• a journey south to Rosslyn Chapel and the Borders,
• a longer day trip to  St Andrews and the coast of Fife,
• details of various day trips from Edinburgh by bus or train.
