TESTIMONIALS

"Over 100 pages with hundreds of links. It's an entire guide book! I truly am without words. I was expecting maybe 5-6 pages for each week. I have to say that I feel very, very guilty at the small amount we paid for the wealth of information you provided."

"I am delighted with my purchase of your Scenic Scotland 7 days tour, wish that I had found your website sooner. I would have saved many hours of uneducated web surfing and comparisons."

"The Tours look great...Your site was the best all round site I found during my search."

Scenic Tour 5 Day

Scenic Tour 5 Day

Scotland Tours >> Browse Scotland Tours >> 3 to 5 Day Tours >> 5 Day Scenic Tour

From Inverness this Scenery tour crosses the Scottish Highlands via the Great Glen to begin an exploration of Wester Ross and the ancient hills of Torridon. The route is full of opportunities to take detours to find stunning beaches in lonely bays, but in the evenings you are staying in lively fishing villages where you can find great food and maybe a Ceilidh too.

PLEASE NOTE: After payment, you will instantly receive an email that enables you to download your Scotland Tour Itinerary.

Day 1 – Arrive in Inverness for the start of your scenic tour of the Scottish Highlands. On arrival discover the Highlands’ Capital, a lively town with a host of nearby attractions to visit. Follow the guide to find the best pubs with live music and maybe some ceilidh dancing.

The first day also includes directions for:
• A short trip around the Black Isle to visit its pretty villages and maybe go dolphin spotting,
• A tour of the Moray Coast with its interesting historical sites including ancient burial grounds and Culloden Moor,
• A circular tour of nearby Loch Ness.

Stopover in Inverness / Black Isle area

Day 2 – The day starts with a choice of routes for the journey to the North West Highlands:
• You can visit to the legendary Loch Ness, and then head north to join the road that will carry you westwards through Strath Bran and Glen Carron to meet the sea at Loch Carron.
• Or you can follow a more direct route that travels along the Great Glen and then turns west to pass the mountains named the "Five Sisters of Kintail".

Your journey ends in a village that is arguably the prettiest in the West Highlands, but you may choose to explore nearby Eilean Donan castle, or to cross onto Skye. Route directions are given for a tour of Skye, but we would advise that you need another day for this.

Stopover in Lochalsh / Kintail area or on Skye.

Day 3 – Head north with the opportunity to discover the remote Applecross Peninsula before passing through the timeless landscape of Torridon and the splendour of Loch Maree. At the end of Day 3 you will be spoilt with a choice of beaches and great seafood restaurants.

Stopover in Gairloch area

Day 4 – More great beaches await you on Day 4’s route so the tour allows you to take the time to relax and enjoy the scenery and solitude. There is tremendous variety in the landscape here, with wide open sandy beaches, steep sided sea lochs, wooded gorges and open moors surrounded by towering mountains.

Once at Ullapool, you can follow our suggested route for an exploration of the Inverpolly Nature Reserve, or a visit to the Summer Isles.

Stopover in Ullapool / Lochinver area

Day 5 – A choice of routes for the travel back to Inverness. You may wish to dwell a little longer in the west and explore the distinctive towering mountains of Inverpolly. Alternatively, you can head east to visit an amazing Highland castle or take a tour of the distillery that produces the Scots’ favourite malt.
