TESTIMONIALS

"Over 100 pages with hundreds of links. It's an entire guide book! I truly am without words. I was expecting maybe 5-6 pages for each week. I have to say that I feel very, very guilty at the small amount we paid for the wealth of information you provided."

"Would recommend this website to anyone who is travelling to Scotland"

Vyvette Crompton on www.ExtraMileScotland.co.uk

"I am delighted with my purchase of your Scenic Scotland 7 days tour, wish that I had found your website sooner. I would have saved many hours of uneducated web surfing and comparisons."

Dr. Jacinta Meharchand, Toronto, Canada.

"The Tours look great...Your site was the best all round site I found during my search."

Island Hopping Tour 10 Day

Island Hopping Tour 10 Day

Scotland Tours >> Browse Scotland Tours >> Island Hopping Tours >> 10 Day Island Hopping Tour

Your first Scottish island experience on this tour is Arran, also known as "Scotland in Miniature", and few other places offer so much scenic variety in such a small area. You then travel through Argyll before taking a short ferry crossing to the Isle of Mull from where you may also choose to make day trips to the islands of Iona and Staffa. The last island visited on this tour is Skye, the most popular of the Scottish Isles famous for its scenery.

PLEASE NOTE: After payment, you will instantly receive an email that enables you to download your Scotland Tour Itinerary.

Day 1 – Arrive in Glasgow, take in some of the city's attractions by following our guide to the city's sites and shopping areas. Directions are also included for a short drive to Loch Lomond.

Stopover in Glasgow / Loch Lomond area.

Day 2 – Starts with a fast drive to catch the ferry to the Isle of Arran. This island has a little bit of everything that you would expect to find in Scotland and a few surprises, such as the thriving Arran Aromatics Perfumery, a Mustard factory and a Buddhist retreat.

First night on the Isle of Arran.

Day 3 – Take your time to discover Arran by following our round island tour. Discover the whisky distillery, castles, standing stones, waterfalls and villages of this charming island. If you are feeling active, Arran has a good choice of  activity sports and hill climbs.

Second night on Arran.

Day 4 – From Arran you take another ferry ride to the Mull of Kintyre and some of our favourite places in Scotland. Once on the mainland, you drive through Knapdale and then into the Kilmartin Glen. This area was once the centre of the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada and it has several burial sites and standing stones. Between Kilmartin and Oban, we provide the option of a detour that takes you to the embarkation point of whale spotting cruises. The journey ends in the Oban area, with its great choice of seafood restaurants.

Stopover in Oban / Appin area.

Day 5 – From Oban it is a short ferry crossing to the Isle of Mull. Mull is an island of unspoilt wilderness and beautiful white sandy beaches. Of course, no trip to the Isle of Mull would be complete with out a visit to the brightly painted village of Tobermory, where we will guide you to our favourite seafood restaurant.

First night on the Isle of Mull.

Day 6 – When in Mull you can "bag" some more islands such as Iona, the home to Christianity in Scotland and the burial place of Scottish Kings. You can also take a cruise to Staffa, the island that inspired Mendelssohn's "Hebrides Overture".

Second night on Mull.

Day 7 – A short ferry ride takes you from Mull and then into to the wilderness of Morvern, Sunart & Moidart. You drive through one of the least populated corners of Scotland and have good chances of spotting wildlife. The route includes the option of a visit to Glenfinnan and several other sites with Jacobite connections. We then guide you along the "Road to the Isles" to meet the car ferry that will take you over the sea to Skye.

First night on the Isle of Skye.

Day 8 – Follow our guide to discover the most visited of the Scottish islands. The main attraction of Skye is its scenery, but our guides will also direct you to coastal walks, dramatic viewpoints, boat trips, Talisker distillery, craft shops and tearooms. More than you'll be able to fit into just one day.

Second night on Skye.

Day 9 – You return to the mainland.  We guide you past Eilean Donan castle and the Kintail Mountains on a route that takes you south-east towards Ben Nevis and Fort William. The directions include:
• a detour option to one of Scotland's best mountain viewpoints,
• a detour to visit Loch Ness,
• an alternative route that follows the Caledonian canal and visits Glenfinnan.

Stopover in Lochaber area.

Day 10 – Today we guide you inland through the dramatic Glen Coe and across the wild empty expanses of Rannoch Moor. We provide directions for returning to either Edinburgh or Glasgow:
• if driving to Edinburgh you follow a route through the Trossachs with a detour option to visit Stirling. The guide includes information for exploring Edinburgh and the surround ing area.
• if going to Glasgow you will be guided along the shores of Loch Lomond.

Stopover in Edinburgh or Glasgow / Loch Lomond area
