TESTIMONIALS

"Over 100 pages with hundreds of links. It's an entire guide book! I truly am without words. I was expecting maybe 5-6 pages for each week. I have to say that I feel very, very guilty at the small amount we paid for the wealth of information you provided."

"I am delighted with my purchase of your Scenic Scotland 7 days tour, wish that I had found your website sooner. I would have saved many hours of uneducated web surfing and comparisons."

Whisky Tour 7 Day

Whisky Tour 7 Day

Scotland Tours >> Browse Scotland Tours >> 6 to 8 Day Tours >> 7 Day Whisky Tour

From Edinburgh, this whisky tour itinerary takes you north to Perthshire for a stopover near Scotland’s smallest distillery. The route then travels via the haunted castles of Royal Deeside to the famous Speyside whisky region. Speyside has an abundance of distilleries, so we suggest a route to explore the area before visiting Inverness and the pretty villages of the Black Isle.

PLEASE NOTE: After payment, you will instantly receive an email that enables you to download your Scotland Tour Itinerary.

Day 1 – Starts with a visit of Edinburgh to enjoy the atmosphere of the Capital. We propose an introduction to Whisky by visiting the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre. We also guide you to a great whisky shop and an exclusive bar where you’ll find a vast range of Malts to choose from.

The guide also includes some options for day trips around the area by car, bus or train.

Stopover in Edinburgh.

Day 2 – The tour heads north from Edinburgh and into Perthshire, where you can start your distillery visits. The guide also includes directions to a charming 17th century village and the country Palace of the Stuart Kings.
This day ends in Pitlochry and we have provided some options for short trips from here to a nearby castle and a very scenic lochside drive.
Stopover in Pitlochry / Aberfeldy Area

Day 3 – You follow the path of an old military road towards the castle country of Royal Deeside. The whisky experience today is a visit to the very picturesque distillery that Queen Victoria liked so much she gave it a “Royal Appointment”. This day also features an optional route for a drive along the path of the River Dee to visit some picturesque and well preserved Castles.
Stopover in Royal Deeside

Day 4 – After crossing the Cairngorms, you descend into the Spey Valley where you’ll never be too far from a whisky distillery. You may recognise some of the names along the route; Aberlour, Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Glen Grant, Macallan…
We provide details of how to book into some of the region's connoisseur whisky tasting tours.
Stopover in Moray Area

Day 5 – A short drive along the Moray Coast takes you from Elgin to Inverness, but you will find lots of places of interest to break the journey (e.g Culloden). If you still have time, you can squeeze in a visit to the distillery that makes the Scots’ favourite Malt. Alternatively, you might wish to join a dolphin spotting tour.
Stopover in Inverness / Black Isle Area

Day 6 – Head south through the pretty town of Grantown on Spey and then travel along one of our favourite roads through the Rothiemurchus Forest,  where there are several opportunities for attractive woodland walks. Today’s route ends in the Pitlochry area, but en route you have the opportunity to visit Scotland’s highest distillery, OR to travel up the Cairngorm mountains by funicular train.
Stopover in Pitlochry Area

Day 7 – The last day of the tour and the homeward leg to Edinburgh or Glasgow. We provide 2 route options:
• A longer journey that takes a scenic trail through the Trossachs,
• Or a faster motorway route with opportunities for a short detour to taste the "high-life" at the world renowned Gleneagles Hotel.
Both routes include the option of a visit to Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument.
