This 4 day whisky tour itinerary is a blend of charming villages, idyllic countryside, striking castles and a steady procession of whisky distilleries. The whisky enthusiast will be kept entertained, but the route takes in many other attractions too.

Day 1 – The tour heads north from Edinburgh and passes through Fife, with opportunities to visit the beautiful country palace of the Stuart kings and queens, before travelling on towards Perthshire. In Perthshire we have recommended several options such as;
• visiting a conservation village with a ruined cathedral on the banks of the River Tay,
• a tour of two very different styles of distilleries,
• a gentle afternoon exploring the tourist attractions around Pitlochry.

Stopover in Pitlochry Area

Day 2 – The second day of this tour takes you along the route of the River Spey and into the famous whisky producing region of Speyside. Possible distillery visits on this day include Cardhu, Dalwhinnie, Glenfiddich, Glen Grant, Strathisla and the Macallan. You can also visit the castle which is home to the only private army in Europe.

Stopover in Moray Area

Day 3 – Today’s route passes by more distilleries with familiar names before turning south to travel along a dramatic road that crosses over the Cairngorm mountains. At the end of Day 3, you arrive in Royal Deeside, where you may choose to visit the Royal Family’s Scottish residence or some of the other splendid castles in this region.

Day 4 – Is the return journey to Edinburgh, but along the tour route we suggest a visit to the Palace where Scotland’s Kings were crowned. If time allows, you may also wish to visit the “Fair City of Perth” before heading back to Edinburgh.
