TESTIMONIALS

"Over 100 pages with hundreds of links. It's an entire guide book! I truly am without words. I was expecting maybe 5-6 pages for each week. I have to say that I feel very, very guilty at the small amount we paid for the wealth of information you provided."

"Would recommend this website to anyone who is travelling to Scotland"

Vyvette Crompton on www.ExtraMileScotland.co.uk

"I am delighted with my purchase of your Scenic Scotland 7 days tour, wish that I had found your website sooner. I would have saved many hours of uneducated web surfing and comparisons."

Dr. Jacinta Meharchand, Toronto, Canada.

"The Tours look great...Your site was the best all round site I found during my search."

Island Hopping Tour 7 Day

Island Hopping Tour 7 Day

Scotland Tours >> Browse Scotland Tours >> 6 to 8 Day Tours >> 7 Day Island Hopping Tour

Your first Scottish island experience on this tour is Arran, also known as "Scotland in Miniature", and few other places offer so much scenic variety in such a small area. You then travel through Argyll before taking a short ferry crossing to the Isle of Mull from where you may also choose to make day trips to the islands of Iona and Staffa.

PLEASE NOTE: After payment, you will instantly receive an email that enables you to download your Scotland Tour Itinerary.

Day 1 – Arrive in Edinburgh and take in some of the city's magical atmosphere by following our guide to the city's many historical, cultural, supernatural, culinary and convivial charms. We provide directions for a choice of 3 walking routes to explore the city. The guide also includes a choice of day trips from Edinburgh by car, bus & train.

Stopover in Edinburgh.

Day 2 – Starts with a fast drive from east to west to catch the ferry to the Isle of Arran. This island has a little bit of everything that you would expect to find in Scotland and a few surprises, such as the thriving Arran Aromatics Perfumery, a Mustard factory and a Buddhist retreat.

First night on the Isle of Arran.

Day 3 – Take your time to discover Arran by following our round island tour. Discover the whisky distillery, castles, standing stones, waterfalls and villages of this charming island. There is also a range of activity sports and some enjoyable hill climbing for all levels of skill.

Second night on Arran.

Day 4 – From Arran you take another ferry ride to the Mull of Kintyre and some of our favourite places in Scotland. Once on the mainland, you drive through Knapdale and then into the Kilmartin Glen. This area was once the centre of the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada and it has several burial sites and standing stones. Between Kilmartin and Oban, we provide the option of a detour that takes you to the embarkation point of whale spotting cruises. The journey ends in the Oban area, with its great choice of seafood restaurants.

Stopover in Oban area.

Day 5 – From Oban it is a short ferry crossing to the Isle of Mull. Mull is an island of unspoilt wilderness and beautiful white sandy beaches. Of course, no trip to the Isle of Mull would be complete with out a visit to the brightly painted village of Tobermory, where we will guide you to one of our favourite seafood restaurants.

First night on the Isle of Mull.

Day 6 – When on Mull you can "bag" some more islands such as Iona, the home to Christianity in Scotland and the burial place of Scottish Kings. You can also take a cruise to Staffa, the island that inspired Mendelssohn's "Hebrides Overture".

Second night on the Isle of Mull.

Day 7 – And you return to the mainland to drive back to the big cities. Our guide gives the option of returning to the mainland by the Oban ferry, OR by a shorter crossing to the wilderness of Morvern. Both routes feature the option of a drive through Glen Coe. We provide directions to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. If going to Edinburgh, you can include a visit to Stirling castle. If going to Glasgow, you return via the shores of Loch Lomond.

Stopover in Edinburgh or Glasgow / Loch Lomond Area
