We always try to warn people not to underestimate how long it takes to drive around Scotland. Trying to do too much in too few days often means that you don't get a good experience of what Scotland has to offer. However, people kept asking for this tour so we thought we should at least try to help the guys that want to do Glasgow, Loch Lomond, Ben Nevis, Skye, Loch Ness, Stirling and Edinburgh in just 3 days. It's a lot of driving so don't say we didn't warn you first!

Arrive in Glasgow – We provide a stopover guide to the city's main attractions and some of its best restaurants. The guide also includes directions for a short drive to Loch Lomond so that you have the option of a scenic stopover location on your first night.

Day 1 – The tour heads north from Glasgow and along the shores of Loch Lomond before heading to Glen Coe and the west coast. You may wish to break your journey in the Ben Nevis / Lochaber area so we provide recommendations on where to eat as well as directions for a walk to a scenic waterfall. From Lochaber, the route meanders into the mountains of Wester Ross and past the distinctive Eilean Donan castle before crossing the bridge to Skye.

The itinerary features a touring route around Skye with suggestions for walks, boat trips, recommended attractions, tearooms, pubs etc.

Stopover in Skye / Lochalsh Area.

Day 2 – Skye really needs at least a day or two to explore, but you can manage a morning on the island. In the afternoon you start the drive to Loch Ness. Along the route we suggest a detour to one of the best mountain viewpoints in Scotland. We give you a choice of routes to drive from Loch Ness to Inverness. Once in Inverness you can follow our directions for exploring the pretty villages of the Black Isle, or else drive along the Moray Coast to visit Culloden battlefield and the many other interesting historical sites.

Day 3 – Today’s route takes you South, and we have provided two sets of directions for the journey from Inverness to Pitlochry. Depending on your schedule, you can take a Direct route with several suggestions for journey breaks, OR a more Scenic route that weaves past forests, pretty villages and castles steeped in legends. We suggest a journey break in Pitlochry, where you have a choice of distilleries and a wealth of gift shops. After Pitlochry, you follow a fast route to Edinburgh that has detour options for a visit to Stirling.

For stopovers in Edinburgh, we provide directions for a choice of walking routes for discovering the City. The guide also includes some options for day trips around the surrounding area by car or bus / train.
