TESTIMONIALS

"Over 100 pages with hundreds of links. It's an entire guide book! I truly am without words. I was expecting maybe 5-6 pages for each week. I have to say that I feel very, very guilty at the small amount we paid for the wealth of information you provided."

Day 1 – Arrive in Edinburgh and take in some of the city’s magical atmosphere by following our guide to the city’s many historical, cultural, supernatural, culinary and convivial charms. If the weather is good, try following our directions for walks around the Botanic Gardens or along the leafy riverside pathways of the Leith Walk. The guide also includes a choice of day trips around the surrounding area by car, bus or train.

Stopover in Edinburgh

Day 2 – Explore Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. In the afternoon you can follow our directions to more castles and grand country houses within the Edinburgh area.

Day 3 – Visit Stirling, site of historic battles and the excellently preserved Stirling Castle. We then guide you north to Perthshire to see the ancient crowning place of Scottish Kings and a lovely conservation village that has changed little since the 1700’s. Your day ends in Pitlochry where there is a choice of good tourist attractions. We provide directions for a short drive to Blair Castle, or a longer circuit on a scenic lochside road.

Stopover in Pitlochry Area

Day 4 – The famous Castle country of Royal Deeside and a route that follows an old Military road built to control the rebellious Jacobite Highlanders. We suggest alternative routes that take you away from the busy main roads to explore the forests around the Queen’s Balmoral estate.

Stopover in Royal Deeside

Day 5 – Another day in Royal Deeside to explore some of the day trip options provided in the guide. We give you the following choice of routes:
• A day trip around the many well preserved castles of Aberdeenshire,,
• A journey over the Cairngorm mountains to explore the whisky distilleries of Speyside,,
• A guide to the main attractions of nearby Aberdeen.

Stopover in Royal Deeside

Day 6 – Visit the dramatic cliff top remains of Dunnottar castle and then turn southwards on a route that goes via Scotland's most haunted castle, before ending the day in the “Kingdom of Fife”, with a visit to St Andrews.

Stopover in St Andrews / East Neuk Area

Day 7 – Return to Edinburgh via the charming fishing villages of the East Neuk. You have the option for a visit to the country Palace of the Stuart Monarchs, which is set in a picturesque village that retains many of its 17th century houses. On the approach to Edinburgh, you cross the Forth estuary and have views of the iconic Forth Rail Bridge.
