Visiting Scottish castles, country houses and national treasures can become an expensive past-time. If you are planning to visit several, or if you are travelling as a family, then it is wise to consider the various Visitor Tickets & Passes that are available.
Historic Scotland “Explorer Passes” give you access to 75 properties throughout Scotland, including the main attractions of Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle and Urquhart Castle at Loch Ness. For details of the attractions available see their website www.historic-scotland.gov.uk
The 3 days (over 5 days) pass can be used within a 5 day period, and a 7 day pass within a 14 day period.
An Adult 3 day pass is £22, but you could recoup this with just a visit to Edinburgh castle (£14) and Stirling castle (£9). So any properties after these visit would effectively be free.
