Mercat Tours provide the best Ghost and History tours in Edinburgh. They specialise in walking tours around Edinburgh’s Old Town featuring the most haunted locations, the scariest stories and most spectacular candlelit underground vaults.

A typical tour starts near the High Kirk of St Giles and a story teller in costume takes you to small alleyways and closes to tell you about people from the past who still haunt the area. After approximately half an hour you follow your guide underground and learn about life under Edinburgh’s medieval buildings. Spooky stories, and sometimes weird experiences from previous tourists, are told. The visitors are asked to play roles. It’s very good, and provides good evening entertainment when the other attractions are closed.
