Despite the misleading name, this distillery is not in Blair Atholl, but in Pitlochry and on the south side of the village so it is even at the wrong end for the road to Blair Atholl. To further confuse things the distillery name is only spelt with one “L” in Athol, how the place got its name is open to speculation.
This distillery is one of the easiest for passing tourists to find and as a result it is very much geared up for visitors, with a refurbished visitor centre containing a walk through exhibition area. The distillery has a traditional and picturesque courtyard which is clad with ivy and is very photogenic.
As you enter Pitlochry from the south you will find the distillery situated on the right hand side of the road opposite a BP petrol station. Please note the last tour is one hour before closing time.
