The Baxter family, which is now in its fourth generation, has been producing quality food products since 1868 and they are particularly famous for their soups and preserves.
The Highland Village is all about promoting the Baxter brand and it is all very commercialized. There is an audio-visual presentation that explains how the family built up the business and the involvement of the family in developing recipes. Visitors can also sample some of the many Baxter food products.
The main reason for a visit to Baxter’s is to go gift shopping. There is a Cook Shop, Toy Shop, Whisky Shop, Book Shop, Clothes Shop, Gift Shop, Deli and even a Christmas shop when in season. All products are of quality, but it is not cheap.
It is also an excellent place for a lunch stop.
