Glenfiddich Distillery has been owned by the Grant family since they started this distillery here in 1886. An impressive achievement in an industry that has seen so many distilleries bought out by big internationals. It is also the only distillery in the Highlands where Bottling takes place on site.
This distillery is a regular on the Coach Tour routes so it can be very busy in summer and is a less intimate tour experience than some of the smaller operations.
Tours are held at intervals of about 20 minutes so there is no need to advance book for small groups. The standard tour will take about 1 hour and it includes an Audio Visual presentation prior to visiting the production areas.
At the end of the tour you get to sample some of the Glenfiddich 12 yr old or the Glenfiddich Liqueur. The tasting room is very high tech and modern with glass tubes displaying a wide range of different "expressions" of Glenfiddich. The tasting room also has a computer terminal that lets you take a picture of yourself to then email on to your friends.
The shop at Glenfiddich is worth a special mention for the wide range of items on sale. In addition to the usual bottles of whisky there is a wide range of Glenfiddich branded clothing and gift items.
